MOLLIE MACLEROY BEARDEN FOR OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT. WHEREAS, highest commendations are herein presented to Mrs Mollie MacLeroy Bearden on being honored by the Willie and Betty Farrior Family Foundation for her outstanding service to the Talladega community and the State of Alabama; and WHEREAS, the Willie and Betty Farrior Family Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in March of 2017, by Colonel (Retired) Cedrick A. Farrior in memory of his grandparents; both were native Alabamians who unfortunately lost their vision at an early age; they attended the Alabama School for the Negro Deaf and Blind in Talladega, Alabama; they were married in October 1945; Willie was the first Black individual to be employed at the Alabama Industries for the Blind in June 1950; Willie retired after completion of 40 years of employment; Betty retired after 27 years of employment; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Mollie MacLeroy Bearden is the daughter of Edward MacLeroy and Mrs. Lola MacLeroy; she and her husband, Donald "Terry" Bearden, are blessed with two children, Tracy Bearden and Donald Bearden; they have four grandchildren, Shelby Floyd, Brynn Gortney, Brantley Bearden, and Easton Bearden; and three great-grandchildren; 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 HR100 INTRODUCED Page 2 Bearden, and Easton Bearden; and three great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, in 1994, Mrs. Bearden started a local chapter of Individual and Family Support, a support group to cover Talladega, Coosa, Clay, and Randolph Counties; that was the birth of Cheaha Family Support Council; this organization is made up of all volunteers who want to serve others with, or have a family member with, developmental disabilities; she currently runs operations of Cheaha and Region V; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Bearden is also a volunteer with United Way and Build a Bridge Food Pantry in Vincent, Alabama; she volunteers at Grasmere Community Center; she is a member of the Board of Alabama Deaf Blind Multiple Association; and she is cochair of a group with Dr. Ed Hall, which stems from United Way and helps distribute Emergency Management funds received for North Talladega County; now therefore; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Mrs. Mollie MacLeroy Bearden is highly commended and congratulated on being honored by the Willie and Betty Farrior Foundation for her outstanding service to the Talladega community and the State of Alabama, and this resolution is offered with utmost appreciation to her, along with best wishes in all future endeavors. 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 50 51
