HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH OF ROBERT D. TIMMONS.
WHEREAS, it is with profound sadness that we note the
death on March 22, 2024, of Robert D. "Bobby" Timmons of
Prattville, Alabama, at the age of 91 years; and 
WHEREAS, his passing leaves a void in the lives of
his loving family, many friends, and the entire community
where he was highly regarded; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Timmons served as the Executive 
Director of the Alabama Sheriffs Association from 1975-2022
starting in Prattville, Alabama; he relocated the office to
Montgomery, Alabama, to be near the Capitol where the office
stands today in his name; and
WHEREAS, he was born in 1932 and reared in Ensley,
Alabama; he married Emily in 1964 and they settled in
Hoover, Alabama, while he traveled the highway to and from
Montgomery for many years until he relocated to Montgomery; 
and
WHEREAS, prior to the Alabama Sheriffs Association,
Mr. Timmons served in the House of Representatives from
1970-1974; he also served as a Special Assistant to the
Jefferson County Sheriff Mel Bailey; he traveled with former
Governor George Wallace during his presidential campaign and
worked with him on numerous legislative issues while Wallace
was Governor; he was appointed as the Law Enforcement

was Governor; he was appointed as the Law Enforcement
Liaison to the Governor by former Governor Don Siegelman,
serving in that role from 1999 until 2003; he is a walking
Code of Alabama, he had life experiences and stories no one
else could tell or ever imagine; he was a member of the
National Sheriffs' Association and at one point was the
oldest living member; he certainly treasured the Office of
Sheriff; and
WHEREAS, he enjoyed his "Bobby Days" and "Bobby
Time"; he did not have many of those, until retirement, but
that was his choice; he worked seven days a week and almost
24 hours a day; he loved it that much; he did so many other
important and treasured things in life that there is just
not enough time or paper to say them all; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Timmons is survived by his son, Todd;
daughter, Leslie (Chris); granddaughters, Ensley, Valorie
(Dany), Ashley (Nick), and Alicia; grandson, Brandon
(Natalie); great-grandchildren, Bryant, Hunter, Sydney, and
Ryan; and a host of other relatives and friends; and     
WHEREAS, although his presence will be greatly
missed, the memory of Mr. Timmons will be cherished in the
hearts of all who knew and loved him; now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Robert D. "Bobby"
Timmons is recorded by Representatives Warren and Shaver
with deep sadness, and this resolution is offered in tribute
to his life and with heartfelt sympathy to his family, whose
grief is shared by many.
