15	15	HR____ COMMENDING DR. JULIA SULLIVAN NELSON ON HER
16	16	RETIREMENT.
17	17	WHEREAS, highest commendations and congratulations
18	18	are herein proudly presented to Dr. Julia Sullivan Nelson
19	19	for outstanding professional achievement on the occasion of
20	20	her retirement; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson attended Burroughs Elementary
22	22	School and graduated from St. Elmo High School; she
23	23	attended Bishop State Junior College where she earned an
24	24	Associate Degree in Business Administration; later she
25	25	attended the University of South Alabama where she earned a
26	26	Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, a Master
27	27	of Education, and an Educational Specialist Degree; she
28	28	received her Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern
29	29	University; and
30	30	WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson began her educational journey at
31	31	Orchard Elementary school as a first-grade teacher with the
32	32	extraordinary vision of excellence with Lyndell Dillard; in
33	33	1999, she was given the opportunity to serve as assistant
34	34	principal under Ms. Dianne Langley for two years as she
35	35	developed life skills that would soar her to higher heights;
36	36	and
37	37	WHEREAS, in 2001, she was placed at Burroughs
38	38	Elementary School as the principal; her tenure has lasted

68	68	Elementary School as the principal; her tenure has lasted
69	69	for 23 years; Dr. Nelson demonstrated an impeccable work
70	70	ethic, endless vision of excellence, and the determination
71	71	of an eagle; and
72	72	WHEREAS, in her commitment to her school, church, and
73	73	community, she is most grateful for the opportunity to give
74	74	back to her neighborhood school, community, and church;
75	75	throughout her journey, Dr. Nelson's unfailing faith and
76	76	love remains with her God and her family; and
77	77	WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson is married to Mr. Henry L. Nelson
78	78	and together they have three sons, Pedro B. (Alice), Jamaal,
79	79	and Ramon Nelson; they have 11 beautiful grandchildren and
80	80	six adorable great-grandchildren; and
81	81	WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson is grateful for her hardworking
82	82	parents who taught her the value of hard work; her
83	83	unwavering faith in God has sustained her throughout her
84	84	journey and will continue to do so; now therefore,
85	85	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
86	86	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That on the occasion of her
87	87	retirement and in recognition of her distinguished career,
88	88	highest commendation is hereby conveyed to Dr. Julia
89	89	Sullivan Nelson, for whom a copy of this resolution is
90	90	provided in admiration and appreciation, along with best
91	91	wishes for the future.
