19 | 19 | | for outstanding professional achievement on the occasion of |

21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson attended Burroughs Elementary |

22 | 22 | | School and graduated from St. Elmo High School; she |
---|
23 | 23 | | attended Bishop State Junior College where she earned an |

24 | 24 | | Associate Degree in Business Administration; later she |
---|
25 | 25 | | attended the University of South Alabama where she earned a |
---|
26 | 26 | | Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, a Master |
---|
27 | 27 | | of Education, and an Educational Specialist Degree; she |
---|
28 | 28 | | received her Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern |
---|
29 | 29 | | University; and |

30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson began her educational journey at |

31 | 31 | | Orchard Elementary school as a first-grade teacher with the |

32 | 32 | | extraordinary vision of excellence with Lyndell Dillard; in |
---|
33 | 33 | | 1999, she was given the opportunity to serve as assistant |
---|
34 | 34 | | principal under Ms. Dianne Langley for two years as she |
---|
35 | 35 | | developed life skills that would soar her to higher heights; |
---|

37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, in 2001, she was placed at Burroughs |

38 | 38 | | Elementary School as the principal; her tenure has lasted |

79 | 79 | | and Ramon Nelson; they have 11 beautiful grandchildren and |

80 | 80 | | six adorable great-grandchildren; and |

81 | 81 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson is grateful for her hardworking |

82 | 82 | | parents who taught her the value of hard work; her |

83 | 83 | | unwavering faith in God has sustained her throughout her |
