15	15	SYNOPSIS:
16	16	Under existing law, certain individuals serving
17	17	a term of confinement are eligible for temporary
18	18	release programs such as work release.
19	19	This bill would provide that an individual
20	20	serving a term of confinement due to a conviction for
21	21	murder is not eligible for any temporary release
22	22	program.
23	23	A BILL
24	24	TO BE ENTITLED
25	25	AN ACT
26	26	Relating to criminal corrections; to provide that
27	27	certain individuals are not eligible for temporary release
28	28	programs.
29	29	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
30	30	Section 1. An inmate serving a term of confinement due
31	31	to a conviction for murder pursuant to Section 13A-6-2, Code
32	32	of Alabama 1975, shall not be eligible for any temporary
33	33	release program authorized under Article 1 of Chapter 8 of
34	34	Title 14 of the Code of Alabama 1975.
35	35	Section 2. A county inmate or state inmate serving a
36	36	term of confinement due to a conviction for murder pursuant to

73	73	release program authorized under Article 3 of Chapter 8 of
74	74	Title 14 of the Code of Alabama 1975.
75	75	Section 4. This act shall become effective on October
76	76	1, 2025.
