| 18 | 20 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: | |
| 19 | 21 | Section 1. This act shall apply only to Clarke County. | |
| 20 | 22 | Section 2. (a)(1) Effective beginning the first day of | |
| 21 | 23 | the month following the adoption of this act, the County | |
| 22 | 24 | Commissioners of Clarke County shall receive an annual expense | |
| 23 | 25 | allowance of eight thousand dollars ($8,000), payable in equal | |
| 24 | 26 | monthly installments from the general fund of the county. | |
| 25 | 27 | (2) This expense allowance shall be in addition to all | |
| 26 | 28 | other compensation or benefits granted to the county | |
| 27 | 29 | commissioners and may be treated as compensation for | |
| 28 | 30 | retirement purposes. | |
| 29 | 31 | (b) Effective beginning the next term of office for any | |
| 30 | 32 | county commissioner, the annual salary of each county | |
| 31 | 33 | commissioner shall be increased by eight thousand dollars | |
| 32 | 34 | ($8,000), and the expense allowance provided in subsection (a) | |
| 33 | 35 | shall be void. | |
