Enrolled, An Act,
Relating to Clarke County; to provide for the expense
allowance and salary of the county commissioners.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. This act shall apply only to Clarke County.
Section 2. (a)(1) Effective beginning the first day of
the month following the adoption of this act, the County
Commissioners of Clarke County shall receive an annual expense
allowance of eight thousand dollars ($8,000), payable in equal
monthly installments from the general fund of the county.
(2) This expense allowance shall be in addition to all
other compensation or benefits granted to the county
commissioners and may be treated as compensation for
retirement purposes.
(b) Effective beginning the next term of office for any
county commissioner, the annual salary of each county
commissioner shall be increased by eight thousand dollars
($8,000), and the expense allowance provided in subsection (a)
shall be void.
Section 3. The expense allowance and salary provided
for in this act shall be in lieu of any other compensation for
the county commissioners and shall supersede any law or part
thereof providing for an expense allowance, salary, or other
compensation for the county commissioners.
Section 4. This act shall become effective immediately.
