| 21 | 21 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: |

| 22 | 22 | | Section 1. Section 45-29-230, Code of Alabama 1975, is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | "ยง45-29-230 |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (a) The Sheriff of Fayette County shall receive an |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | additional expense allowance of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | per year, payable in equal monthly installments from the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | general fund of the county. The expense allowance shall be in |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | addition to all other compensation, expense allowances, or |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | benefits granted to the sheriff. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (b) Beginning with the next term of office, the expense |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | allowance paid to the sheriff as provided in subsection (a) |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | shall be null and void. In lieu thereof, the sheriff shall |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | receive a salary of sixty thousand dollars ($60,000) per year |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | payable in equal monthly installments from the county general |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | fund. |

| 75 | 75 | | (c) Beginning January 18, 2027, the sheriff's base |

| 76 | 76 | | salary shall be eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) per annum |
