17	17	SYNOPSIS:
18	18	Under existing law, when asked by a law
19	19	enforcement officer a person has a duty to inform the
20	20	officer whether he or she is in possession of a
21	21	concealed pistol or firearm. There is no penalty
22	22	associated with a violation of this law.
23	23	This bill would provide a criminal penalty for a
24	24	violation.

26	26	TO BE ENTITLED
27	27	AN ACT
28	28	Relating to firearms; to amend Section 13A-11-95 of the
29	29	Code of Alabama 1975; to establish a criminal penalty for
30	30	failure to inform a law enforcement officer of one's
31	31	possession of a concealed pistol or firearm under certain
32	32	circumstances.
33	33	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
34	34	Section 1. Section 13A-11-95 of the Code of Alabama
35	35	1975, is amended to read as follows:
36	36	"§13A-11-95
37	37	(a) Any person who knowingly possesses a pistol or
38	38	firearm concealed on or about his or her person or in a

68	68	firearm concealed on or about his or her person or in a
69	69	vehicle occupied by the person, and who is asked by a law
70	70	enforcement officer operating in the line or scope of his or
71	71	her official duties whether he or she is armed with a
72	72	concealed pistol or firearm, shall immediately inform the law
73	73	enforcement officer that the person is in possession of a
74	74	pistol or firearm.
75	75	(b) A violation of subsection (a) is a Class A
76	76	misdemeanor."
77	77	Section 2. This act shall become effective on October
78	78	1, 2025.
