1515 HJR___ NAMING THE BRIDGE ON INTERSTATE 20/59 THAT SPANS
1616 GRANT CREEK IN TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, ALABAMA, THE DARYL WAYNE
1717 BROWN, SR. MEMORIAL BRIDGE.
1818 WHEREAS, it is with the highest accolade that this
1919 body honors the memory of Daryl Brown by requesting the
2020 Department of Transportation designate the bridge on
2121 Interstate 20/59 that spans Grant Creek in Tuscaloosa
2222 County, Alabama, as the Daryl Wayne Brown, Sr. Memorial
2323 Bridge; and
2424 WHEREAS, Daryl Brown was born November 28, 1960, to
2525 Ms. Earnestyne Brown and Mr. Robert Tubbs, Sr.; he was a
2626 graduate of Brighton High School, Class of 1979; he
2727 matriculated to The University of Alabama at Birmingham
2828 before becoming an Alabama State Trooper in 1981; he
2929 steadfastly served in that role for 28 years, retiring in
3030 2009; during his retirement, he worked at the Federal
3131 Courthouse in Tuscaloosa in security; and
3232 WHEREAS, Trooper Brown confessed his life to Christ
3333 at an early age and remained His faithful servant until his
3434 tragic and untimely passing in a fatal car accident near the
3535 Grant Creek bridge; and
3636 WHEREAS, Daryl Brown was a devoted husband of 41
3737 years to Lucille Brown; he was a dedicated father to Daryl
3838 Brown, Jr. (Santevia) and Cordelro Brown; and a loving

6868 Brown, Jr. (Santevia) and Cordelro Brown; and a loving
6969 grandfather to Daryl III and Olivia; now therefore,
7070 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
7171 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That to honor Daryl Brown, who
7272 loved and served his community and was beloved in return,
7373 the Department of Transportation is encouraged to coordinate
7474 with local governing officials to consider designating the
7575 bridge on Interstate 20/59 that spans Grant Creek in
7676 Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, as the Daryl Wayne Brown, Sr.
7777 Memorial Bridge and to erect appropriate signs or markers,
7878 consistent with applicable requirements and laws, in
7979 recognition of this designation.
