MEMORIAL BRIDGE. WHEREAS, it is with the highest accolade that this body honors the memory of Daryl Brown by requesting the Department of Transportation designate the bridge on Interstate 20/59 that spans Grant Creek in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, as the Daryl Wayne Brown, Sr. Memorial Bridge; and WHEREAS, Daryl Brown was born November 28, 1960, to Ms. Earnestyne Brown and Mr. Robert Tubbs, Sr.; he was a graduate of Brighton High School, Class of 1979; he matriculated to The University of Alabama at Birmingham before becoming an Alabama State Trooper in 1981; he steadfastly served in that role for 28 years, retiring in 2009; during his retirement, he worked at the Federal Courthouse in Tuscaloosa in security; and WHEREAS, Trooper Brown confessed his life to Christ at an early age and remained His faithful servant until his tragic and untimely passing in a fatal car accident near the Grant Creek bridge; and WHEREAS, Daryl Brown was a devoted husband of 41 years to Lucille Brown; he was a dedicated father to Daryl Brown, Jr. (Santevia) and Cordelro Brown; and a loving 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 HJR31 INTRODUCED Page 2 Brown, Jr. (Santevia) and Cordelro Brown; and a loving grandfather to Daryl III and Olivia; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That to honor Daryl Brown, who loved and served his community and was beloved in return, the Department of Transportation is encouraged to coordinate with local governing officials to consider designating the bridge on Interstate 20/59 that spans Grant Creek in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, as the Daryl Wayne Brown, Sr. Memorial Bridge and to erect appropriate signs or markers, consistent with applicable requirements and laws, in recognition of this designation. 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39
