45	45	HJR____ CONGRATULATING REPRESENTATIVE RANDALL SHEDD ON HIS
46	46	YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE STATE OF ALABAMA.
47	47	WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure,
48	48	highest commendations are conveyed to Representative Randall
49	49	Shedd for his constant and unwavering service to the State
50	50	of Alabama; and
51	51	WHEREAS, Randall Shedd started his journey at Wallace
52	52	State Community College; following his graduation, he served
53	53	as the Director of the Cullman County Commission on Aging;
54	54	from 1977 to 1985, he diligently led the Cullman County
55	55	Commission as its Chair; after his terms as chair and as a
56	56	testament to his leadership abilities, he was elected Mayor
57	57	of his hometown of Fairview in 1996 and served four terms
58	58	until 2012; and
59	59	WHEREAS, in late 2012, the District 11 seat,
60	60	representing Blount and Cullman Counties, in the Alabama
61	61	House of Representatives was vacated; having already proven
62	62	his ability to serve his local community, Randall Shedd was
63	63	elected to fill the position in a special election;
64	64	Representative Shedd was sworn in as a member of the Alabama
65	65	House of Representatives on April 11, 2013, and has
66	66	dutifully served since; and
67	67	WHEREAS, Representative Shedd has held many positions
68	68	while serving in the Legislature; he is a member of the

98	98	while serving in the Legislature; he is a member of the
99	99	Legislative Council, the Joint Transportation Committee, the
100	100	Permanent Joint Legislative Committee on Energy Policy, the
101	101	Children and Senior Advocacy Committee, and the Sunset
102	102	Committee; and
103	103	WHEREAS, Representative Shedd quickly earned the
104	104	respect and trust of his peers, evidenced by his many
105	105	leadership positions in the Legislature; he is the Majority
106	106	Whip in the Alabama House of Representatives and serves as
107	107	Chair of the House Republican Steering Committee and the
108	108	House Transportation, Utilities and Infrastructure
109	109	Committee; and Cochair of the Alabama Digital Expansion
110	110	Authority and the Alabama Rural Broadband Oversight
111	111	Committee; and
112	112	WHEREAS, never one to be idle, Representative Shedd
113	113	serves as an officer in the House Rural Caucus and a member
114	114	of the Sportsmen Caucus and TVA Caucus; in recognition of
115	115	his character and strong work ethic, his fellow Republican
116	116	Caucus members found it proper to bestow upon him the 2024
117	117	Iron Award, an award given to a GOP representative whose
118	118	words, deeds, and actions build teamwork and help colleagues
119	119	reach their full potential; and
120	120	WHEREAS, Randall Shedd will freely admit that his
121	121	greatest accomplishment in life is his family; he and his
122	122	wife, Debbie, have two sons and two grandchildren; Randall
123	123	and Debbie are members of Welcome Baptist Church; and
124	124	WHEREAS, known for his tireless and unwavering
125	125	service to the residents of Alabama, Representative Shedd is
126	126	the epitome of fairness, honesty, and professionalism; this

157	157	body knows that his dedication to the people of Alabama will
158	158	not end when he crosses the threshold of the State House;
159	159	rather, the commendations within this resolution are given
160	160	with the knowledge that he will continue serving his fellow
161	161	Alabamians for many days; now therefore,
162	162	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
163	163	HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Representative Randall Shedd
164	164	is hereby commended and recognized for his outstanding
165	165	service to the people of House District 11 and the State of
166	166	Alabama, and with sincere gratitude for his valuable
167	167	contributions to this body, this resolution is offered with
168	168	utmost respect to him, along with best wishes for all future
