18	18	WHEREAS, the State of Alabama has contributed
19	19	numerous advancements to the world in science, technology,
20	20	and rocket propulsion over the past six decades, including
21	21	taking Americans to the Moon; and
22	22	WHEREAS, NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center has
23	23	private suppliers in all seven congressional districts,
24	24	reaffirming the space industry serves as a major economic
25	25	development asset and technology magnet for Alabama and the
26	26	southeast; and
27	27	WHEREAS, the partnerships between Marshall Space
28	28	Flight Center, U.S. Space and Rocket Center, Beyond Gravity,
29	29	Blue Origin, KBR, Leidos Dynetics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop
30	30	Grumman, Teledyne Brown Engineering, The Boeing Company,
31	31	Raytheon RTX, Special Aerospace Services, United Launch
32	32	Alliance, and many others across the state bring critical
33	33	innovation through continued advanced discoveries, STEM
34	34	outreach, strengthening national security, deepening
35	35	partnerships across the country and around the world, and
36	36	inspiring a new generation of scientists, engineers, and
37	37	explorers; and
38	38	WHEREAS, Alabama is resolute in continuing to shape
39	39	the workforce of the future through robust partnerships with
40	40	academia, industry, government, and nonprofits and

72	72	Aerospace Student Internship Program in its fifth year
73	73	designed to provide students across Alabama a pathway into
74	74	the aerospace industry; and
75	75	WHEREAS, Alabama continues to secure the nation's
76	76	role as frontrunner in advancing industry, technology, and
77	77	education, to support global space innovations and
78	78	exploration; and
79	79	WHEREAS, NASA Astronauts Clifton Williams, Henry
80	80	Hartsfield, Kathy Thornton, James Voss, Mae Jemison, Jan
81	81	Davis, and Kathryn Hire, all from Alabama, have spent over
82	82	320 days in space across 18 flights of the Marshall-managed
83	83	Space Shuttle Program; and
84	84	WHEREAS, Alabamians are exceedingly proud of the
85	85	distinguished achievements the advances in space
86	86	exploration, technology, and science it has produced to the
87	87	benefit of all humanity ; now therefore,
88	88	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
89	89	HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, Tha t we hereby proclaim February
90	90	25, 2025, as Space Day in the State of Alabama.
