1818 WHEREAS, the State of Alabama has contributed
1919 numerous advancements to the world in science, technology,
2020 and rocket propulsion over the past six decades, including
2121 taking Americans to the Moon; and
2222 WHEREAS, NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center has
2323 private suppliers in all seven congressional districts,
2424 reaffirming the space industry serves as a major economic
2525 development asset and technology magnet for Alabama and the
2626 southeast; and
2727 WHEREAS, the partnerships between Marshall Space
2828 Flight Center, U.S. Space and Rocket Center, Beyond Gravity,
2929 Blue Origin, KBR, Leidos Dynetics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop
3030 Grumman, Teledyne Brown Engineering, The Boeing Company,
3131 Raytheon RTX, Special Aerospace Services, United Launch
3232 Alliance, and many others across the state bring critical
3333 innovation through continued advanced discoveries, STEM
3434 outreach, strengthening national security, deepening
3535 partnerships across the country and around the world, and
3636 inspiring a new generation of scientists, engineers, and
3737 explorers; and
3838 WHEREAS, Alabama is resolute in continuing to shape
3939 the workforce of the future through robust partnerships with
4040 academia, industry, government, and nonprofits and

7272 Aerospace Student Internship Program in its fifth year
7373 designed to provide students across Alabama a pathway into
7474 the aerospace industry; and
7575 WHEREAS, Alabama continues to secure the nation's
7676 role as frontrunner in advancing industry, technology, and
7777 education, to support global space innovations and
7878 exploration; and
7979 WHEREAS, NASA Astronauts Clifton Williams, Henry
8080 Hartsfield, Kathy Thornton, James Voss, Mae Jemison, Jan
8181 Davis, and Kathryn Hire, all from Alabama, have spent over
8282 320 days in space across 18 flights of the Marshall-managed
8383 Space Shuttle Program; and
8484 WHEREAS, Alabamians are exceedingly proud of the
8585 distinguished achievements the advances in space
8686 exploration, technology, and science it has produced to the
8787 benefit of all humanity ; now therefore,
8888 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
8989 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, Tha t we hereby proclaim February
9090 25, 2025, as Space Day in the State of Alabama.
