HJR___ ENCOURAGING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO BE
COOPERATIVE WITH LOCAL GOVERNING OFFICIALS.
WHEREAS, it is necessary for branches of the
government of the State of Alabama, its agencies and
departments, and its municipalities and county governments
to work together to accomplish the needs of the state and
its residents; and
WHEREAS, specifically, it is essential that the
channels of communication between the Department of
Transportation and local governing and law enforcement
officials remain open to ensure public roads and highways
are best serving the residents of the state; and
WHEREAS, to accomplish that goal, the Department of
Transportation is encouraged to be more collaborative when
conversing with local government and law enforcement
officials regarding areas of need that fall under the
department's jurisdiction; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That to promote goodwill and
effective communication between the Department of
Transportation and local governmental agencies and
officials, the department is encouraged to be more
cooperative when it is required to consult or engage with
officials for transportation business.
