1515 HR____ COMMENDING VANESSA SCOTT FOR PROFESSIONAL
1616 ACHIEVEMENTS.
1717 WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure,
1818 highest commendations are conveyed to Vanessa Scott for her
1919 many professional achievements during her career in
2020 education; and
2121 WHEREAS, Vanessa earned her Bachelor of Arts in
2222 Journalism from Grambling State University in Grambling,
2323 Louisiana; she continued her education at Jacksonville State
2424 University, where she earned a Master of Education in
2525 English and Language Arts, and a Master of Science in
2626 Education, and an Education Specialist Degree; she holds an
2727 Associate Certification in Management of Child Nutrition
2828 Programs from the University of Mississippi; and
2929 WHEREAS, Vanessa retired from Talladega County
3030 Schools after 34 years; she taught English and Language Arts
3131 at Winterboro High School for 15 years; she then served in
3232 many administrative roles in the Talladega County School
3333 System, including Research Teacher for one year and
3434 Assistant Principal three years at Talladega County Central
3535 High School; Principal at Munford Middle School for four
3636 years; and Principal of Talladega County Central High School
3737 for four years; she then served as the Coordinator of the
3838 Child Nutrition Program, retiring after seven years; she

6868 Child Nutrition Program, retiring after seven years; she
6969 transitioned to work as a Secondary Facilitator for new
7070 teachers; and, since October 2024, serves as the Hearing
7171 Officer for the Talladega County Schools System; and
7272 WHEREAS, during her tenure as the Principal of
7373 Talladega County Central High School, Vanessa Scott
7474 instituted the Professional Academy Day (PAD) program; PAD
7575 is a weekly program in which the students and faculty wear
7676 blazers, white shirts or blouses, and khaki pants or skirts,
7777 including ties for the boys; the premise of the program is
7878 for students to visualize their potential for success; on
7979 Thursday each week, teachers focused their lessons on
8080 presentations and activities that give students
8181 opportunities for professional growth; and
8282 WHEREAS, Vanessa serves as Vice President of Alpha
8383 Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Mu Tau Omega Chapter and
8484 assists with the sorority's Youth Leadership Institute; she
8585 and her husband of 40 years, Joe Scott, are members of New
8686 Hope Baptist Church in Sylacauga; she enjoys reading,
8787 writing, and public speaking when she is not spending time
8888 with her children, Christopher Scott and Shari Scott
8989 Robinson, her husband, Juwan Robinson, and their children,
9090 Charlee Grace and Grayson; now therefore,
9191 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9292 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Vanessa Scott is highly
9393 commended for her professional achievements over the course
9494 of her 34-year career in education and this resolution is
9595 offered to her as evidence of our high regard with best
9696 wishes for continued success and prosperity.
