HR____ COMMENDING VANESSA SCOTT FOR PROFESSIONAL
ACHIEVEMENTS.
WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure,
highest commendations are conveyed to Vanessa Scott for her
many professional achievements during her career in
education; and 
WHEREAS, Vanessa earned her Bachelor of Arts in
Journalism from Grambling State University in Grambling,
Louisiana; she continued her education at Jacksonville State
University, where she earned a Master of Education in
English and Language Arts, and a Master of Science in
Education, and an Education Specialist Degree; she holds an
Associate Certification in Management of Child Nutrition
Programs from the University of Mississippi; and 
WHEREAS, Vanessa retired from Talladega County
Schools after 34 years; she taught English and Language Arts
at Winterboro High School for 15 years; she then served in
many administrative roles in the Talladega County School
System, including Research Teacher for one year and
Assistant Principal three years at Talladega County Central
High School; Principal at Munford Middle School for four
years; and Principal of Talladega County Central High School
for four years; she then served as the Coordinator of the
Child Nutrition Program, retiring after seven years; she

Child Nutrition Program, retiring after seven years; she
transitioned to work as a Secondary Facilitator for new
teachers; and, since October 2024, serves as the Hearing
Officer for the Talladega County Schools System; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure as the Principal of
Talladega County Central High School, Vanessa Scott
instituted the Professional Academy Day (PAD) program; PAD
is a weekly program in which the students and faculty wear
blazers, white shirts or blouses, and khaki pants or skirts,
including ties for the boys; the premise of the program is
for students to visualize their potential for success; on
Thursday each week, teachers focused their lessons on
presentations and activities that give students
opportunities for professional growth; and  
WHEREAS, Vanessa serves as Vice President of Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Mu Tau Omega Chapter and
assists with the sorority's Youth Leadership Institute; she
and her husband of 40 years, Joe Scott, are members of New
Hope Baptist Church in Sylacauga; she enjoys reading,
writing, and public speaking when she is not spending time
with her children, Christopher Scott and Shari Scott
Robinson, her husband, Juwan Robinson, and their children,
Charlee Grace and Grayson; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Vanessa Scott is highly
commended for her professional achievements over the course
of her 34-year career in education and this resolution is
offered to her as evidence of our high regard with best
wishes for continued success and prosperity.
