15	15	HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF
16	16	GWENDOLYN WENDELL WILLIAMS PETERSON.
17	17	WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
18	18	death of Gwendolyn Wendell Williams Peterson of Union
19	19	Springs, Alabama, at the age of 76; her departure leaves a
20	20	void in the lives of her loving family, many friends, and
21	21	the community where she was highly regarded; and
22	22	WHEREAS, born on October 23, 1948, Gwendolyn was
23	23	blessed with a loving family; she was a high spirited,
24	24	determined, intelligent, and nurturing child; growing up as
25	25	the youngest of four children, life was never dull; she
26	26	would go on to have three children of her own, Mildretta,
27	27	Shenita, and Brandon, along with six grandchildren, 11
28	28	great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews; and
29	29	WHEREAS, Ms. Peterson earned her Bachelor of Science
30	30	and Master of Education degrees from Alabama State
31	31	University; using the skills given to her and ones she
32	32	learned, she became a devoted educator for 43 years; and
33	33	WHEREAS, while serving as an educator, Ms. Peterson
34	34	also vastly contributed to her community, including being a
35	35	member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated; First
36	36	Baptist Church of Greater Washington Park; AERA District 7
37	37	Director; Alabama State University Foundation Board; Alabama
38	38	Silver-Haired Legislature; AARP Legislative Representative;

70	70	member of several local Retirees' Associations, including
71	71	Montgomery, Lowndes, Macon, Butler, Russell, Bullock, and
72	72	Elmore Counties; and
73	73	WHEREAS, Ms. Peterson was preceded in death by her
74	74	parents, Catha and Gladys Williams; and brother, Clifton
75	75	Williams; she will be lovingly remembered by her children,
76	76	Mildretta, Shenita, and Brandon (Sheikina); her children's
77	77	father, Andrew Peterson; grandchildren, Kierra Peterson,
78	78	Kenneth Dorsey (Martine), Kyvante (Hydreias), and Shenika
79	79	Peterson; great-grandchildren, Tequan Hall, Arsenio Hall,
80	80	Jr., Skyler Hall, Kennedy Dorsey, Amauri Rudolph, Meriah
81	81	Peterson, Noarah Peterson, Neriah Peterson, Kendrick
82	82	Peterson, Kendall Peterson, and Aiden Peterson; and
83	83	WHEREAS, Gwendolyn Peterson's life was a testament to
84	84	love, leadership, and service; she will be deeply missed,
85	85	yet her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she
86	86	touched; now therefore,
87	87	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
88	88	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Gwendolyn Wendell
89	89	Williams Peterson is recorded with deep sadness, and this
90	90	resolution is offered to her family in tribute to her life
91	91	and with heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones whose grief is
92	92	shared by many.
