15	15	HR____ RECOGNIZING JULY 26, 2025, AS OFFICIATE ALABAMA DAY.
16	16	WHEREAS, Officiate Alabama Day is a one-day event
17	17	that will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the
18	18	Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center;
19	19	and
20	20	WHEREAS, the event is sponsored by the Alabama High
21	21	School Athletic Association (AHSAA) in partnership with the
22	22	National Association of Sports Officials (NASO); and
23	23	WHEREAS, the mission of the NASO is to not only
24	24	provide the best and most up-to-date information for sports
25	25	officials but serve as the leading source of sports
26	26	officiating information, programs, and services; members of
27	27	the NASO include officials from the professional,
28	28	collegiate, and high school levels for a vast variety of
29	29	sports including baseball, basketball, football, wrestling,
30	30	volleyball, soccer, track and field, cross country, swimming
31	31	and diving, and competitive cheer; and
32	32	WHEREAS, Officiate Alabama Day is held one day before
33	33	the annual Sports Officiating Summit, which is the only
34	34	gathering of its kind in the world because of the wide
35	35	variety of sports and competition levels represented; the
36	36	Summit, an intense two-and-a-half day event, focuses on the
37	37	topics and issues that are most relevant to the people
38	38	immersed in the officiating industry; and

68	68	immersed in the officiating industry; and
69	69	WHEREAS, Alabama sports officials have been long
70	70	looking forward to the NASO Summit and especially Officiate
71	71	Alabama Day, since the original event, which was scheduled
72	72	to be held in Alabama in 2020, was canceled due to the
73	73	COVID-19 Virus pandemic; and
74	74	WHEREAS, it is anticipated that this will be by far
75	75	the largest gathering ever of officials for an event in
76	76	Alabama at one setting; and
77	77	WHEREAS, Officiate Alabama Day and the NASO Summit
78	78	feature a variety of opportunities for sports officials to
79	79	make new contacts, meet new people, and re-connect with
80	80	colleagues, friends, and acquaintances; and the event will
81	81	culminate with the annual Celebrate Officiating Gala,
82	82	featuring the presentation of NASO's highest honor, the Gold
83	83	Whistle Award; now therefore,
84	84	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
85	85	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we commend and congratulate the
86	86	Alabama sports officials and the AHSAA for their promotion,
87	87	leadership, and numerous contributions to all sports in
88	88	Alabama, and July 26, 2025, is hereby proclaimed as
89	89	Officiate Alabama Day in our great state; this resolution is
90	90	offered in deepest admiration and with thanksgiving for
91	91	their dedication to athletics, along with sincere best
92	92	wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
