HR____ RECOGNIZING JULY 26, 2025, AS OFFICIATE ALABAMA DAY.
WHEREAS, Officiate Alabama Day is a one-day event
that will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the
Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center;
and
WHEREAS, the event is sponsored by the Alabama High
School Athletic Association (AHSAA) in partnership with the
National Association of Sports Officials (NASO); and
WHEREAS, the mission of the NASO is to not only
provide the best and most up-to-date information for sports
officials but serve as the leading source of sports
officiating information, programs, and services; members of
the NASO include officials from the professional,
collegiate, and high school levels for a vast variety of
sports including baseball, basketball, football, wrestling,
volleyball, soccer, track and field, cross country, swimming
and diving, and competitive cheer; and
WHEREAS, Officiate Alabama Day is held one day before
the annual Sports Officiating Summit, which is the only
gathering of its kind in the world because of the wide
variety of sports and competition levels represented; the
Summit, an intense two-and-a-half day event, focuses on the
topics and issues that are most relevant to the people
immersed in the officiating industry; and

immersed in the officiating industry; and
WHEREAS, Alabama sports officials have been long
looking forward to the NASO Summit and especially Officiate
Alabama Day, since the original event, which was scheduled
to be held in Alabama in 2020, was canceled due to the
COVID-19 Virus pandemic; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that this will be by far
the largest gathering ever of officials for an event in
Alabama at one setting; and
WHEREAS, Officiate Alabama Day and the NASO Summit
feature a variety of opportunities for sports officials to
make new contacts, meet new people, and re-connect with
colleagues, friends, and acquaintances; and the event will
culminate with the annual Celebrate Officiating Gala,
featuring the presentation of NASO's highest honor, the Gold
Whistle Award; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we commend and congratulate the
Alabama sports officials and the AHSAA for their promotion,
leadership, and numerous contributions to all sports in
Alabama, and July 26, 2025, is hereby proclaimed as
Officiate Alabama Day in our great state; this resolution is
offered in deepest admiration and with thanksgiving for
their dedication to athletics, along with sincere best
wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
