PRUDENCE LABEACH POLLARD ON HER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO OAKWOOD UNIVERSITY. WHEREAS, Dr. Prudence LaBeach Pollard has served over 14 years as First Lady for Oakwood University and is married to Dr. Leslie Nelson Pollard, Ph.D., D. Min., President of Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama; she has dedicated her time and efforts to help Oakwood University and the Huntsville Community succeed in every way possible; and WHEREAS, Dr. Pollard served Oakwood University from 2011 to 2024 as Vice President for Quality Assurance, Research and Faculty Development and is the Founding Dean for the School of Graduate Studies; she is tenured as a Professor of Management in the Oakwood University School of Business and is the author of "Raise a Leader, God's Way" and has edited multitudinous books, published a plethora of articles, and delivered approximately over 100 scholarly presentations; and WHEREAS, Dr. Pollard holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, Oakwood University; a Master in Public Health, University of Michigan; a Ph.D. in Evaluation, Measurement, and Research Design, Western Michigan University; and is also a Registered Dietitian, American Dietetic Association; and specializing in leadership and community health and wellness, is a senior 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 HR131 INTRODUCED Page 2 leadership and community health and wellness, is a senior professional in human resources, Human Resources Certification Institute; and WHEREAS, Dr. Pollard's academic and professional positions at Oakwood University have included, but were not limited to, Academic Planner, Human Resource Administrator, Technology Administrator, Strategic Planner, Leadership Development Consultant/Researcher, and Founder and Administrator for an internally funded Faculty Development Grant Program to support development of faculty research capabilities; and WHEREAS, Dr. Prudence LaBeach Pollard designed and launched both the Oakwood University Leadership Academy (iLEAD) for executives and the innovative Frontline Academy for staff; and WHEREAS, Dr. Pollard began her health care career in the Blue Zone at Loma Linda University as a professor in the School of Public Health; she has worked as a university educator since 1986, and a university administrator since 1994; she brings to her achievements a wealth of experience across four universities; and WHEREAS, Dr. Pollard worked with a team of 35 to envision what a healthy HBCU should look like; her research uncovered the comorbidities of diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases that affect not only African American adults, but also African American adolescents; and WHEREAS, Dr. Pollard launched HealthyCampus2020 to assess the health of the university and develop a healthier 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 50 51 52 53 54 55 56 HR131 INTRODUCED Page 3 assess the health of the university and develop a healthier campus, currently known as Healthy Campus, Healthy Community; Oakwood University was awarded the Crystal Apple Award by Mrs. Michelle Obama's Partnership for a Healthier America in 2018; and WHEREAS, with honor, appreciation, and prestige Dr. Pollard was presented the President's Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her volunteer leadership and service to our great nation from former President Joseph R.
