16	16	WINNING THE ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CLASS
17	17	2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
18	18	WHEREAS, the Alabama Senate takes great pride in
19	19	recognizing outstanding accomplishments by our state's
20	20	students and athletes; and
21	21	WHEREAS, the Pisgah Girls Basketball Team has
22	22	achieved remarkable success by winning the Alabama High
23	23	School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 2A State
24	24	Championship, a testament to their exceptional skill, hard
25	25	work, and dedication; and
26	26	WHEREAS, Head Coach Carey Ellison has led 15
27	27	different Pisgah girls basketball teams into state
28	28	championship games during his 29-year tenure as head coach,
29	29	but this one felt different; he recognized the uniqueness of
30	30	this game when his nerves seemed to all but disappear; and
31	31	WHEREAS, his lack of nerves translated to the game as
32	32	Pisgah built a double-digit halftime lead before closing the
33	33	game on a 21-6 scoring run to defeat top-ranked Decatur
34	34	Heritage 84-72; and
35	35	WHEREAS, this victory marked the eleventh all-time
36	36	championship for Pisgah, second most in AHSAA history, and
37	37	the ninth championship during Ellison's time as head coach;

69	69	excellence of the squad, guided by Coach Carey Ellison,
70	70	which has consistently placed among the top teams in recent
71	71	years; and
72	72	WHEREAS, the achievements of this team bring great
73	73	pride to Pisgah High School, the City of Pisgah, and the
74	74	entire State of Alabama; now therefore,
75	75	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
76	76	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the Pisgah Girls Basketball
77	77	Team is hereby commended and congratulated on their
78	78	outstanding victory in the AHSAA Class 2A State
