HR____ CONGRATULATING THE PISGAH GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM ON
WINNING THE ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CLASS
2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Alabama Senate takes great pride in
recognizing outstanding accomplishments by our state's
students and athletes; and
WHEREAS, the Pisgah Girls Basketball Team has
achieved remarkable success by winning the Alabama High
School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 2A State
Championship, a testament to their exceptional skill, hard
work, and dedication; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Carey Ellison has led 15
different Pisgah girls basketball teams into state
championship games during his 29-year tenure as head coach,
but this one felt different; he recognized the uniqueness of
this game when his nerves seemed to all but disappear; and
WHEREAS, his lack of nerves translated to the game as
Pisgah built a double-digit halftime lead before closing the
game on a 21-6 scoring run to defeat top-ranked Decatur
Heritage 84-72; and
WHEREAS, this victory marked the eleventh all-time
championship for Pisgah, second most in AHSAA history, and
the ninth championship during Ellison's time as head coach;
and

and
WHEREAS, this victory reflects the continued
excellence of the squad, guided by Coach Carey Ellison,
which has consistently placed among the top teams in recent
years; and
WHEREAS, the achievements of this team bring great
pride to Pisgah High School, the City of Pisgah, and the
entire State of Alabama; now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the Pisgah Girls Basketball
Team is hereby commended and congratulated on their
outstanding victory in the AHSAA Class 2A State
Championship.
