1515 HR____ RECOGNIZING PINK HARD HAT GIRLS AND WOMEN IN
1616 CONSTRUCTION MONTH.
1717 WHEREAS, it is with great pride and special pleasure
1818 that the Educational Workforce Development programs for high
1919 school girls and women in construction called Pink Hard Hat
2020 Girls and Women in CTE, Construction, and Manufacturing
2121 Programs and Occupations have been established in Jackson
2222 County; and
2323 WHEREAS, March 2-8 is recognized as Women in
2424 Construction Week; this week is crucial to honor women who
2525 mhave overcome challenges and stereotypes in the
2626 construction industry, to encourage more women to pursue
2727 careers in construction, and to promote diversity and
2828 inclusion in the construction industry; and
2929 WHEREAS, the focus of these organizations is to share
3030 different opportunities for females in CTE, Construction,
3131 and Manufacturing, to educate and expose females to these
3232 types of careers, and to provide networking opportunities
3333 and employment information; the outcome of the group is to
3434 provide a potential pipeline of female skilled workers for
3535 the workforce and provide a network for females already
3636 working within these fields; women in all construction and
3737 manufacturing jobs, including office and administration,
3838 total only 11 percent; with this small percentage, it is

6969 imperative to encourage and help influence more girls and
7070 women to enter this field; and
7171 WHEREAS, group participation is open to students in
7272 grades 10-12 in CTE, Construction, and Manufacturing
7373 programs, women in CTE, Construction, and Manufacturing
7474 Careers, student advisers, and partnering companies; and
7575 WHEREAS, meetings will take place six times during
7676 the school year where students will visit different local
7777 industries and hear from a female speaker that works in a
7878 CTE, Construction, or Manufacturing occupation; the schools
7979 will provide a bus and a driver to transport students to and
8080 from the industry; now therefore,
8181 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8282 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That by recognizing the Pink Hard
8383 Hat Girls and Women in CTE, Construction, and Manufacturing
8484 Programs and Occupations, young girls and women everywhere
8585 are encouraged to pursue careers regardless of gender and
8686 create a lasting legacy for all women in the future.
