HR____ RECOGNIZING PINK HARD HAT GIRLS AND WOMEN IN
CONSTRUCTION MONTH.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride and special pleasure
that the Educational Workforce Development programs for high
school girls and women in construction called Pink Hard Hat
Girls and Women in CTE, Construction, and Manufacturing
Programs and Occupations have been established in Jackson
County; and
WHEREAS, March 2-8 is recognized as Women in
Construction Week; this week is crucial to honor women who
mhave overcome challenges and stereotypes in the
construction industry, to encourage more women to pursue
careers in construction, and to promote diversity and
inclusion in the construction industry; and
WHEREAS, the focus of these organizations is to share
different opportunities for females in CTE, Construction,
and Manufacturing, to educate and expose females to these
types of careers, and to provide networking opportunities
and employment information; the outcome of the group is to
provide a potential pipeline of female skilled workers for
the workforce and provide a network for females already
working within these fields; women in all construction and
manufacturing jobs, including office and administration,
total only 11 percent; with this small percentage, it is

total only 11 percent; with this small percentage, it is
imperative to encourage and help influence more girls and
women to enter this field; and
WHEREAS, group participation is open to students in
grades 10-12 in CTE, Construction, and Manufacturing
programs, women in CTE, Construction, and Manufacturing
Careers, student advisers, and partnering companies; and
WHEREAS, meetings will take place six times during
the school year where students will visit different local
industries and hear from a female speaker that works in a
CTE, Construction, or Manufacturing occupation; the schools
will provide a bus and a driver to transport students to and
from the industry; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That by recognizing the Pink Hard
Hat Girls and Women in CTE, Construction, and Manufacturing
Programs and Occupations, young girls and women everywhere
are encouraged to pursue careers regardless of gender and
create a lasting legacy for all women in the future.
