WHEREAS, it is with deep sorrow and regret that we note the lamentable death of Alvin James Kennedy, of Lower Peach Tree, Alabama, on February 20, 2025, at the age of 61 years; and WHEREAS, Alvin James Kennedy, lovingly known as "Man," had a deep love for his church and family; full of life, he was a devoted Alabama fan and a remarkable cook; he found great joy in attending Quartet singings, with a special admiration for Lee Williams; and WHEREAS, he graduated from Pine Hill High School in 1982 before enrolling in the Job Corps in Louisville, Kentucky, where he served for several years; with a strong work ethic, he built a career in the maintenance industry, dedicating 25 years as the Maintenance Supervisor at Brookshire Manor Apartments; and WHEREAS, at an early age, Mr. Kennedy united with Cook Valley Baptist Church in Sunny South, Alabama, under the leadership of Pastor Leroy Houston; as a devoted member, he served faithfully as an ordained deacon until Pastor Houston's passing; later, he joined St. John Church in Lower Peach Tree and continued to worship in various churches throughout the community until God called him home; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kennedy was a kind and generous soul, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 HR146 INTRODUCED Page 2 WHEREAS, Mr. Kennedy was a kind and generous soul, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need; he will be remembered for his unwavering support and dedication to his community; known for his selflessness, he would go to great lengths to assist anyone; Mr. Kennedy was also a passionate race car enthusiast, frequently attending and supporting various Dragway Racing Tracks; and WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Mary Kennedy; sisters, Gennetta Kennedy and Linda Kennedy-Sams; and brother, Levaster Jackson; and WHEREAS, left to cherish his memory are his wife, Geraldine Kennedy; sons, Marshall Jowers and Jairus Bettis; daughters, Shania Kennedy, Belinda Jackson, Machaela Bettis, Tychina Bush, and Chastanni Green; sister, Clara McMillian (Grady); brother, Calvin Kennedy (Zanetha); grandchildren, De'Andria, Ja'Christion, Jerran, Kirstin, Kiana, Kelis, Kelani, Khristi, Malaysia, Kaili, and Cerennity; great grandchildren, Amerr and Harlym; and a host of other relatives and friends; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kennedy was a valued member of the community who was loved by many, we join with others to celebrate his life and to mourn his death; although his presence will be greatly missed, his memory will be cherished in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate to know him ; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Mr. Alvin James Kennedy is recorded with deep sadness, and even as we mourn his death, we also celebrate his life; this resolution is 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 50 51 52 53 54 55 56 HR146 INTRODUCED Page 3 his death, we also celebrate his life; this resolution is offered in highest tribute, along with heartfelt sympathy to his family, whose grief is shared by many. 57 58
