HR____ COMMENDING THE BRILLIANT SCHOOL VARSITY LADY TIGERS
BASKETBALL TEAM FOR COMPETING IN THEIR FIRST CLASS 1A STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP AND OTHER ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS.
WHEREAS, commendations and congratulations are herein
proudly extended to the Brilliant School Ladies Varsity
Basketball Team for capturing the runner-up slot in the
Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 1A
State Championship on February 27, 2025, at Legacy Arena in
Birmingham, Alabama; and 
WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers were also crowned Northwest
Regional Champions, concluding the season with a final
record of 24 wins and 12 losses, matching the school record
for season wins; and 
WHEREAS, under the expertise and guidance provided by
Head Coach Ryan Sanderson, the Class 1A Coach of the Year,
and assistant coaches, Sawyer Nelson, Heath Sanderson, and
Ben Johnson, the players have broadened their knowledge of
the game, refined their skills in execution, and developed a
tradition of superior play and true sportsmanship; and 
WHEREAS, this is the third straight season the Lady
Tigers have had 20 plus wins, marking a total of 82 wins
across four seasons; this year, the Lady Tigers made history
by becoming the first team from Brilliant School, one of the
smallest schools in the state, to ever play for the state

smallest schools in the state, to ever play for the state
championship in any sport; and
WHEREAS, on a team full of exceptional athletes, a
trio of juniors, Brooke O'Mary, Hadlee Sanderson, and Laine
Johnson, scored 11 points each during the final game; senior
Macy Moore added eight points; and
WHEREAS, the 2024-2025 championship team includes
Karagan Stanford, Macy Moore, Hadlee Sanderson, Laine
Johnson, Brooke O'Mary, Aubrey Moye, Marlee Barnett, and
Nova Smith; and
WHEREAS, Hadlee Sanderson was selected as First-Team
All-State and also chosen as a finalist for the Class 1A
Player of the Year; and Macy Moore was selected for
Third-Team All-State; and
WHEREAS, the Brilliant School Varsity Lady Tigers'
noteworthy success is a tremendous source of pride for their
families, classmates, and the entire community, whose
dedication and support have played a crucial role in
motivating the team; the town has gone above and beyond to
encourage the athletes, packing the stands all year and
showing Tiger Pride from day one; now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the 2024-2025 Brilliant School
Lady Tigers Basketball Team is congratulated for its
athletic achievements including being named as the Alabama
High School Athletic Association Class 1A State Championship
Runner-up, and we hereby dedicate this resolution to the
team members, coaches, and fans with utmost admiration,
