HR____ COMMENDING COMBAT VETERAN GREGORY DALE FANIN FOR HIS
MILITARY SERVICE AND SERVICE TO THE ALABAMA SURFACE MINING
COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure,
highest commendations are presented to Combat Veteran
Gregory Dale Fanin for his many years of military service
and service to the Alabama Surface Mining Commission; and 
WHEREAS, Greg Fanin graduated Oakman High School with
the honor of being nominated for the United States Military
Academy at West Point; he earned an A.A. and an A.S. from
Walker College in Business Administration; and a Bachelor of
Science in Business Administration in Public Administration,
with honors, from Samford University where he was initiated
into several academic honor societies, served on the student
government association as Senate Pro Tem, and was an
ambassador for the University Hhonors Program; he continued
his academic journey by earning an Airframe and Powerplant
license from Baker's School of Aeronautics and an A.S. in
Munitions Systems Technology from the Community College of
the United States Air Force; and 
WHEREAS, Greg served a total of 25 years, six months,
and 29 days in service to the United States, retiring as
Staff Sergeant, U.S. Air Force, in 2012; he served 1,089
days in Combat Zones, including Operations Desert Shield,

days in Combat Zones, including Operations Desert Shield,
Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, Vigilant Resolve, Southern
Watch, and New Dawn; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Fanin is highly decorated
with Medals, Citations, Awards, Commendations, and Badges
for his steadfast service, a few of which include the
Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal
with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Global War on Terrorism Service
Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster; Armed Forces Expeditionary
Medal; Southwest Asia Service Medal with three Bronze Stars;
Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Star; Operation Iraqi
Freedom Campaign Medal; and Global War on Terrorism
Expeditionary Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster; and 
WHEREAS, Greg Fanin is a Century Club Member and
Capitol Club Member of the Alabama Republican Party and has
served as President Trump's Delegate to the Republican
National Convention in 2020 and 2024; he also supports
several civic organizations including the Lion's Club and
the York #211 Free and Accepted Free Masons; he has served
the State of Alabama as a Commissioner on the Alabama
Surface Mining Commission since 2019; he is a dedicated
member of Gardendale First Baptist Church; and he is the
proud father of two daughters, Bethany Erin Grace Fanin and
Megan Hope Fanin; now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Combat Veteran Gregory Dale
Fanin is highly commended for his many years of military
service and his service to the state on the Alabama Surface
Mining Commission, and this resolution is offered to him as
