HR___ COMMENDING HAMILTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ON RECEIVING THE
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION
ACT STATE PROGRAM ADIMINISTRATORS DISTINGUISHED SCHOOLS
AWARD.
WHEREAS, highest commendations and well wishes are
hereby extended to Hamilton Elementary School in Marion
County, Alabama, on being named a National Association of
Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) State Program
Administrators Distinguished Schools award winner; and
WHEREAS, Hamilton Elementary School in Marion County,
Alabama, will be recognized for its exceptional student
performance and achievement at the ESEA Conference in
Austin, Texas, in February; and 
WHEREAS, schools were selected from among other Title
I schools with high poverty rates that demonstrated
improvement in certain students' achievement rates; and
WHEREAS, Hamilton Elementary School, a Southern
Association of Schools accredited school, houses students
prekindergarten through fourth grade and a special needs
preschool program; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Superintendent Dr.
Patrick Sutton and Principal Mr. Gary McCarley, Hamilton
Elementary has shown remarkable student performance during
the last two years, with an average achievement rate of

the last two years, with an average achievement rate of
68.63 percent; now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That highest honors and
commendations be given to Hamilton Elementary School in
Marion County, Alabama, on being named a National
Association of Elementary and Secondary Education Act State
Program Administrator s Distinguished Schools award winner ,
and we offer this resolution as a token of our gratitude and
as evidence of our sincere appreciation and high regard as
they continue to raise the bar for educational leadership.
