4747 MEMBER BENEFITS AWARD FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE.
4848 WHEREAS, highest commendations and congratulations
4949 are herein proudly presented to Kimberly Christian Johnson,
5050 Wellborn High School graduate and Auburn Junior High School
5151 teacher, on being named the recipient of the National
5252 Education Association's (NEA) 2024 Member Benefits Award for
5353 Teaching Excellence; and
5454 WHEREAS, Kimberly Johnson, an interventionist,
5555 resource educator, and teacher lead at Auburn Junior High
5656 School in Auburn, Alabama, received one of public
5757 education's top honors for her tireless dedication to
5858 empowering students and advocating for equity in education,
5959 which has made a transformational difference in the lives of
6060 her students, peers, and school community; her passion,
6161 leadership, and commitment to ensuring every student has
6262 access to quality education are truly inspiring; and
6363 WHEREAS, as an interventionist, Kimberly Johnson
6464 works with at-risk students, supporting them as they work to
6565 overcome various challenges and strive for academic success;
6666 she motivates and encourages students through
6767 student-centered teaching practices that focus on building
6868 trust and self-esteem; and

9999 WHEREAS, beyond her work with students, she is an
100100 advocate for social-emotional learning, student advocacy,
101101 teacher support, school resources, and equity in the
102102 teaching profession; her dedication to fostering inclusive
103103 and supportive learning environments has had a profound
104104 impact on students, educators, and communities alike; and
105105 WHEREAS, Kimberly Johnson is currently pursuing a
106106 doctoral degree in education; she hopes to continue working
107107 in the profession and to advocate on a national level for
108108 students and teachers; the award will give her a platform to
109109 connect with superintendents, the members and sponsors of
110110 the NEA program, and other educational organizations; and
111111 WHEREAS, on May 4, 2024, she attended the NEA Salute
112112 to Excellence in Education Gala at the White House, which
113113 was also attended by President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill;
114114 she was one of five finalists, and she won the prestigious
115115 Horace Mann Award before the announcement was made that she
116116 was awarded the NEA 2024 Member Benefits Award for Teaching
117117 Excellence; and
118118 WHEREAS, with her commitment to excellence and
119119 tireless dedication, Kimberly Johnson personifies the finest
120120 qualities of those who enrich the lives of Alabama's young
121121 people through the noble vocation of education, and she is
122122 truly worthy of the significant honor bestowed upon her; now
123123 therefore,
124124 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
125125 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Kimberly Christian Johnson is
