HR____ CONGRATULATING THE MONTGOMERY ACADEMY VARSITY BOYS
SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2025 ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL
ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CLASS 7A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, we take great pride and pleasure in
congratulating the Montgomery Academy (MA) Varsity Boys
Soccer Team, from Montgomery, Alabama, on winning the 2025
Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 7A
Boys Soccer State Championship and finishing their season
with a 19-5-2 record; this victory gives MA its first AHSAA
boys soccer championship in school history; and
WHEREAS, on May 10, 2025, at the John Hunt Park at
Loretta P. Spencer Sports Complex in Huntsville, the Eagles,
through teamwork, diligence, and an unwavering commitment to
excellence, ended Oak Mountain High School's 49-game winning
streak and 60-game unbeaten string dating back to the 2023
season with a stunning 2-1 victory; prior to the game,
MaxPreps predicted that the Eagles had a zero chance of
defeating the number one ranked team in the country; and
WHEREAS, senior Cade Segars earned tournament MVP
honors and scored one of the two goals; and
WHEREAS, the Montgomery Academy Boys Varsity Soccer
Program has been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach
Gui Mondaini and assistant coaches Gabriel Dias and Renan
Diniz; under their leadership, the players have broadened

Diniz; under their leadership, the players have broadened
their knowledge of the game, refined their skills in
execution, and maintained Montgomery Academy's tradition of
superior play and true sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, the talented members of the Montgomery
Academy Championship Varsity Boys Soccer Team are Rob
Ashworth, Tanner Bartgis, Reeves Hall, Reade Hartzog, Gage
Holloway, Ways Holloway, Hayes Lachney, Parker Mantooth,
Lawton McCollum, Doc McIntyre, Grady Ming, Christopher
Obenhaus, Drew Phenix, Cade Segars, Jacob Stubblefield, Will
Veale, Brody Watrous, Brewer Welch, Hampton Welch, Damion
Womack, and Ethan Yi; and
WHEREAS, the Montgomery Academy Eagles' success is a
tremendous source of pride for their families, classmates,
teachers, administrators, Athletic Director Wright Ward, and
the entire MA community, whose dedication and support have
played a crucial role in motivating the team; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the Montgomery Academy Varsity
Boys 2025 Soccer Team and coaches are highly honored and
commended on an exceptional season and for winning the AHSAA
Class 7A State Championship; we hereby dedicate this
resolution to them with utmost admiration, along with best
wishes for continued success.
