HR____ COMMENDING COACH RICKY KNIGHT FOR PROFESSIONAL
ACHIEVEMENTS ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.
WHEREAS, highest commendations are herein proudly
presented to Coach Ricky Knight on the joyous occasion of
his retirement from Lurleen B. Wallace Community College
(LBW); and
WHEREAS, Coach Ricky Knight has dedicated an
extraordinary 40 years to LBW as the head coach of the men's
and women's basketball teams, demonstrating a profound
commitment to excellence both on and off the court; and
WHEREAS, Coach Knight's professional basketball
career as a player took him overseas, where he competed
internationally in Spain, Brazil, Australia, and Argentina,
before transitioning to coaching as an assistant at The
University of Alabama in Huntsville and ultimately joining
LBW in 1985; and 
WHEREAS, throughout his career at LBW, Coach Knight
has achieved remarkable success, including leading the
women's basketball team to two state championships and
multiple national tournament appearances; he guided both the
men's and women's teams to numerous conference championships
and earned a variety of coaching awards such as NJCAA Region
22 Coach of the Year and Birmingham Tip-Off Club Junior
College Coach of the Year; and

College Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Coach Knight's leadership extended beyond
athletic achievements, as he developed LBW's athletic
program into one of the most respected in the region and
mentored countless student-athletes who have gone on to
excel in basketball and in their personal and professional
lives; and
WHEREAS, Coach Knight's dedication, integrity, and
exemplary leadership have left an indelible mark on LBW and
the surrounding community, creating a lasting legacy of
excellence in athletics and academics; and
WHEREAS, LBW will honor Coach Knight for his
distinguished career and celebrate his retirement on
February 17, 2025, prior to the final home basketball game
of the season at Seth Hammett Gymnasium; and
WHEREAS, we wish Coach Knight a fulfilling and
well-deserved retirement as he embarks on this new chapter
of his life, confident that his legacy will continue to
inspire future generations of student-athletes and coaches;
now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, Tha t Coach Ricky Knight is heartily
congratulated for his many wins, and this resolution is
offered to him with deep gratitude and highest regard along
with best wishes for health and happiness in his retirement.
