WHEREAS, it is with profound sadness that we note the death of Josephine Arelena Jordan Williams, of Mobile, Alabama, on February 6, 2025, at the age of 90; and WHEREAS, Ms. Williams was born on February 20, 1934, to Julia Lee Parks Buchanan and Leon Jordan; she graduated with the Class of 1952 from the Josephine Allen Private Institute in Mobile, Alabama; and WHEREAS, for many years, Josephine was a member of Lily Baptist Church; throughout her life, she served in various roles at the church and was always willing to assist wherever needed; she was known for her generosity and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life; she cherished rearing her children and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, professionally, Josephine worked at the Courtaulds Fibers Rayon Plant in Axis, Alabama; after her retirement from Courtaulds, she served as a transportation aide for Franklin Primary Health Clinics; in her retirement, she traveled extensively, cherished her family, and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Josephine is preceded in death by her parents; son, Lester Earl Jordan; and great-grandson, Jordan 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 HR51 INTRODUCED Page 2 parents; son, Lester Earl Jordan; and great-grandson, Jordan Gray; her precious memories will be cherished by those who loved her, including her daughters, Jacqueline Thomas Claude and Joycelyn Thomas Cole (Carson); her son, Andre L. Williams; her grandchildren, Nigia McCaskill (Henry), Keland Claude (Andreanna), Aladrienne Jordan, Jolandra McNeil (Timothy), Tierra Tracy, Andre Williams II, Symone Ariel Turner (Trequan), Daysia Veal, and Carson Juwan Cole; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loved ones, friends, and her church family; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Josephine Arlena Jordan Williams is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is offered in tribute to her life and with heartfelt sympathy to her family, whose grief is shared by many. 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43
