KEVIN MCCRELESS FOR 33 YEARS OF SERVICE IN PASTORAL MINISTRY AT BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT. WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we highly honor Dr. Kevin McCreless for 33 years of service in pastoral ministry at Broadway Baptist Church in Rainsville, Alabama, on the occasion of his retirement; and WHEREAS, Dr. McCreless' education includes an undergraduate degree from Samford University; a Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School; and a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary; and WHEREAS, he entered the ministry in 1982 at New Prospect Baptist Church in Marbury, Alabama, and he served at Liberty Grove Baptist Church and Harpersville First Baptist Church before accepting the call to serve as Pastor at Broadway Baptist Church in January 1992; and WHEREAS, when Dr. McCreless accepted the call to serve at Broadway, he moved to Sand Mountain with his wife, Terri, and their seven-year-old son, Luke; shortly thereafter, their daughter, Katie, was born; together, the McCreless family embraced their roles within the church, navigating the joys and challenges of ministry; and WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, Dr. McCreless has been recognized as a visionary leader, guiding the church 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 HR68 INTRODUCED Page 2 been recognized as a visionary leader, guiding the church through numerous building projects and outreach initiatives; upon his retirement, the "new sanctuary" that was built in 2002 was formally renamed in his honor; and WHEREAS, Dr. McCreless has a deep passion for sharing the love of God with others and helping everyone discover a personal relationship with Jesus; he is beloved for his dedication to foster an atmosphere of joy, peace, love, and hope among the church congregation that he served for so many years; and WHEREAS, Dr. McCreless was tirelessly committed to community outreach, leading his church to serve the people in DeKalb County through ministries such as Hope House, Celebrate Recovery, and Walk Through Bethleham; he prayerfully endeavored to walk alongside his church family and the people in his community as they discovered God's hope, plan, and future for their lives; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Dr. Kevin McCreless is highly commended for 33 years of service in pastoral ministry to Broadway Baptist Church, and we hereby dedicate this resolution to him with heartiest gratitude, admiration, and regard, along with sincere best wishes for continued happiness and success. 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 50 51
