CULLINS ON THE OCCASION OF HIS 95TH BIRTHDAY. WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, joyful felicitations are conveyed to United States Army Veteran James T. Cullins, on the occasion of his milestone 95th Birthday; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cullins was born on February 26, 1930, in Sylacauga, Alabama; in 1948, he joined the United States Army when he was 18 years old and was sent to Germany, where he served as a machine gunner during the Berlin Airlift and saw World War II come to an end; he also served in the Korean War; he was stationed on the edge of Russia, operating a tank and preparing to enter Russia if ordered; in 1952, he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant; and WHEREAS, in 1951, Mr. Cullins answered the call to ministry and after his military career, he attended Freed-Hardman University; after college, he was asked to preach at the Alexander City Church of Christ; he also enjoyed guest preaching at Bethany Baptist, Children's Harbor, Church in the Pines on Lake Martin, Church of Christ of the Highlands, and Chapman Healthcare and Assisted Living Center; in a testament to his time in the military and the importance of supporting Veterans, he found it truly 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 HR91 INTRODUCED Page 2 importance of supporting Veterans, he found it truly meaningful to preach at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home to give back to a community that gave so much to him; and WHEREAS, additionally, he helped Alexander City, Alabama, acquire the senior living apartments Hillabee Towers, in 1983; in his honor, they named the apartments the James T. Cullins Hillabee Towers; as a part of a Veterans' display at the Charles E. Bailey, Sr. Sportplex, he orchestrated bringing in an airplane to add to the display; forever a man of many hats, Mr. Cullins also served in the Alabama Legislature from 1990-1994; and WHEREAS, even after accumulating 95 years worth of adventures, Mr. Cullins continues to look for areas in which he might serve anyone around him and does not plan on slowing down anytime soon; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That United States Army Veteran James T.
