1515 HR____ CELEBRATING THE LIFE AND MOURNING THE DEATH OF CHERYL
1616 VARNADOE RAMSEY.
1717 WHEREAS, we pause to honor the life, legacy, and
1818 unwavering dedication of Cheryl Varnadoe Ramsey, who touched
1919 the lives of many through her passion for education,
2020 service, and mentorship; and
2121 WHEREAS, Cheryl was born on August 21, 1968, to
2222 George Harold Varnadoe, Jr. and Rosetta Coats Williams, and
2323 from an early age, she demonstrated a love for learning,
2424 leadership, and music; and
2525 WHEREAS, she was a proud graduate of A.H. Parker High
2626 School, where she was actively involved in the marching and
2727 concert bands, serving as section leader during her senior
2828 year, and a dedicated member of the A.H. Parker High School
2929 Concert Choir, where her melodious voice graced many
3030 performances; and
3131 WHEREAS, she pursued higher education at Jacksonville
3232 State University, earning a double major in Human Resource
3333 Management and Marketing, and in 1989, she became a
3434 distinguished member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
3535 Incorporated, an organization that remained dear to her
3636 heart throughout her life; and
3737 WHEREAS, recognizing her true calling in education,
3838 Cheryl pursued her teacher certification from The University

6868 Cheryl pursued her teacher certification from The University
6969 of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and dedicated herself to
7070 three years of teaching before realizing her greater impact
7171 would be in counseling; she went on to earn a Master's
7272 Degree in School Counseling from Alabama State University
7373 and spent over two decades shaping the futures of countless
7474 students as a Guidance Counselor, most notably at her
7575 cherished alma mater, A.H. Parker High School; and
7676 WHEREAS, Cheryl's commitment to service was evident
7777 through her Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority affiliations, where
7878 she served as the Graduate Advisor for both Iota Phi (UAB)
7979 and Gamma Pi (Miles College), earning the esteemed Graduate
8080 Adviser of the Year Award for the Southeastern Region for
8181 two consecutive years; and
8282 WHEREAS, she was an active member of the Parker High
8383 School United Alumni Association, continuously working to
8484 uplift and support the institution that shaped her formative
8585 years; and
8686 WHEREAS, on November 19, 2011, Cheryl married her
8787 devoted husband, Demetrius Ramsey, with whom she shared a
8888 life filled with love and partnership; and
8989 WHEREAS, she was a dedicated big sister to Charlette
9090 White and a loving aunt to her nephews, Cameron and Caleb
9191 White, never missing a milestone in their lives; and
9292 WHEREAS, Cheryl was affectionately known as "Auntie"
9393 to numerous student-athletes, selflessly dedicating her
9494 time, energy, and resources to supporting their dreams,
9595 ensuring they had the guidance and encouragement to succeed
9696 both on and off the field; now therefore,

127127 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
128128 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we celebrate and honor the life
129129 of Cheryl Varnadoe Ramsey, a devoted wife, sister, aunt,
130130 educator, mentor, and leader whose legacy of service,
131131 scholarship, and unwavering love for her community will
132132 forever be cherished.
133133 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this
134134 resolution be presented to her family as a token of our
135135 deepest sympathy and gratitude for her life's work.
