Senate Bill 117 as passed the Senate could increase the obligations of certain sheriffs, by an
undetermined amount dependent upon the number of Class 1, 2, or 3 municipalities that enter
into memorandums of understanding with local sheriffs and county commissions for traffic
enforcement purposes. However, any increased obligations could be offset, in whole or in part,
by the distribution of additional fees assessed for traffic violations and distributed to the
respective local office of the sheriff for law enforcement purposes only pursuant to this bill.
