| 28 | 28 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: | |
| 29 | 29 | Section 1. Due to the lack of security measures being | |
| 30 | 30 | taken by the state to protect the integrity of electronic | |
| 31 | 31 | benefit cards used by beneficiaries of the Supplemental | |
| 32 | 32 | Nutrition Assistance Program, the state, commencing on the | |
| 33 | 33 | effective date of this act, shall reimburse Alabama residents | |
| 34 | 34 | whose benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance | |
| 35 | 35 | Program have been stolen in an amount equal to any loss in | |
| 36 | 36 | stolen benefits. | |
| 37 | 37 | Section 2. This act shall become effective immediately. | |
