A BILL
TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
Relating to Bibb County; to revise the salary of the
judge of probate if he or she is an attorney; and to provide
for retroactive effect.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. (a) This section shall only apply if the
judge of probate in Bibb County is licensed to practice law in
the state.
(b) In Bibb County, the salary of the judge of probate
shall equal 80 percent of the first step of the state base
salary paid to a state district court judge on the date the
judge of probate first takes office. The salary shall be paid
in equal installments from the general fund of the county.
(c) In addition, the judge of probate shall be entitled
to any increases in salary, including step increases and
cost-of-living increases, in the same amount and in the same
manner as a district judge having the same number of years of
service as the judge of probate.
(d) The salary provided in this section shall be in
lieu of any other compensation that may be provided by law to
the judge of probate.

the judge of probate.
Section 2. The provisions of this act are curative and
shall have retroactive effect to January 1, 2021. 
Section 3. This act shall become effective immediately.
