This bill would also require the Alabama Medicaid Agency to cover a colonoscopy based on a positive test result. A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT Relating to the Alabama Medicaid Agency; to require the agency to cover certain noninvasive colorectal screening tests under certain conditions; and to require the Medicaid Agency to cover a colonoscopy based on a positive test result. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: Section 1. The Alabama Medicaid Agency shall provide coverage for any noninvasive colorectal cancer screening test that is assigned a grade A or B under recommendations of the United States Preventive Services Task Force, as the recommendations of the task force may be amended from time to 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 SB27 INTRODUCED Page 2 recommendations of the task force may be amended from time to time. The Medicaid Agency shall also provide coverage for any colonoscopy performed based on a positive screening test result. Coverage of the tests shall include, but not be limited to, all of the following tests, provided the test maintains a grade A or B rating based on recommendations of the task force: (1) The guaiac fecal occult blood test (gFOBT). (2) The fecal immunochemical test (FIT). (3) The multi-target stool DNA test (sDNA-FIT). Section 2. This act shall be effective immediately. 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38
