SYNOPSIS:
Under existing law, county commissions and
municipalities are not required to make certain
financial statements, audits, monthly expenditures, and
budgets available to the public through online
publication.
This bill would require the online publication
of financials, audits, monthly expenditures, and
budgets of counties and municipalities.
A BILL
TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
Relating to counties and municipalities; to require the
online publication of all financial statements, audits,
monthly expenditures, and budgets.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. (a) All county commissions and
municipalities shall annually publish all statements of the
county's or municipality's financial status for the 12-month
period ending on September 30th of that year, audits, monthly
expenditures, and budgets in a prominent location on the
official website of the county or municipality.

official website of the county or municipality.
(b) If the county or municipality does not maintain an
official website, the information required in subsection (a)
shall be posted on the website of the Association of County
Commissions of Alabama or the Alabama League of
Municipalities.
Section 2. This act shall become effective on October
1, 2025.
