A BILL
TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
Relating to Jackson County; to provide for the
compensation of the judge of probate; and to repeal Sections
45-36-83 and 45-36-83.01, Code of Alabama 1975, relating to
the compensation of the Jackson County Judge of Probate
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. (a) In Jackson County, beginning October 1,
2025, the salary of the judge of probate shall be one hundred
thirty-two thousand dollars ($132,000) per year payable in
installments from the general fund of the county. The salary
provided in this subsection shall be in lieu of any other
compensation, expense allowance, or fees provided to the judge
of probate prior to October 1, 2025.
(b) In addition to the salary provided under subsection
(a), the judge of probate shall be entitled to the same
uniform increases in compensation, including cost-of-living
increases, that are granted equally after October 1, 2025, to
all county employees of Jackson County, notwithstanding any
provisions of Section 11-2A-4, Code of Alabama 1975, to the
contrary.
Section 2. Sections 45-36-83 and 45-36-83.01, Code of

Section 2. Sections 45-36-83 and 45-36-83.01, Code of
Alabama 1975, relating to the compensation of the Jackson
County Judge of Probate, are repealed.
Section 3. This act shall become effective on October
1, 2025.
