This bill would establish the crime of presentment of a forged instrument and would provide penalties for violations. A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT Relating to crimes and offenses; to establish the crime of presentment of a forged instrument; and to provide penalties for violations. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: Section 1. Section 13A-9-7.1 is added to the Code of Alabama 1975, to read as follows: ยง13A-9-7.1 (a) A person commits the crime of presentment of a forged instrument if he or she does either of the following: (1) Utters a forged instrument to an employee or official of the state or any political subdivision of the state with knowledge that the instrument is forged and with intent to defraud. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 SB66 INTRODUCED Page 2 intent to defraud. (2) Utters a written instrument to an employee or official of the state or any political subdivision of the state with knowledge that the written instrument identifies or is associated with another individual and with intent to defraud.
