SJR___ URGING THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION, THE UNITED STATES
SECRETARY OF DEFENSE, AND THE UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF THE
AIR FORCE TO ESTABLISH A PERMANENT HEADQUARTERS FOR UNITED
STATES SPACE COMMAND AT REDSTONE ARSENAL IN HUNTSVILLE,
ALABAMA.
WHEREAS, in 2021, the United States Air Force
announced Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, as the
preferred location for the United States Space Command
Headquarters; and
WHEREAS, in determining where to permanently locate
the United States Space Command Headquarters, Redstone
Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, consistently ranked as the
top location throughout the selection process and compared
more favorably across four key factors and 21 criteria than
any other finalist location; and
WHEREAS, the results of the Strategic Basing Action
found that Huntsville, more so than any other finalist
location, provided a large, qualified workforce, quality
schools, superior infrastructure, and low initial and
recurring costs to the Department of Defense; and
WHEREAS, the results of the Strategic Basing Action
prove that Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, was and
remains the best location for the headquarters of the United
States Space Command, and it was the informed decision of

States Space Command, and it was the informed decision of
the Department of the Air Force to select the site as the
preferred location on January 13, 2021; and
WHEREAS, the findings of the Strategic Basing Action
have been supported by reports following subsequent
Department of Defense Inspector General and Government
Accountability Office investigations; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That this body recognizes that
the United States Air Force's Strategic Basing Action
process complied with the law and policy and was justified
in identifying Huntsville as the preferred permanent
location for the United States Space Command Headquarters to
ensure the national security and fiscal responsibility of
the United States and well-being of service members and
their families.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we encourage the
President of the United States, the United States Secretary
of Defense, and the United States Secretary of the Air Force
to immediately proceed in establishing a permanent
headquarters for United States Space Command at Redstone
Arsenal in Huntsville. 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this
resolution be delivered to the President of the United
States, the United States Secretary of Defense, the United
States Secretary of the Air Force, and the Alabama
Congressional Delegation.
