19	19	WHEREAS, the life-affirming impact of pregnancy help organizations on 16
20	20	the women, men, children, and communities they serve is considerable and 17
21	21	growing; and 18

23	23	WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations serve women in Arkansas and 20
24	24	across the United States with integrity and compassion; and 21
25	25	22
26	26	WHEREAS, more than two thousand seven hundred (2,700) pregnancy help 23
27	27	organizations across the United States provide comprehensive care to women 24
28	28	and men facing unplanned pregnancies, including resources to meet their 25
29	29	physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs; and 26

31	31	WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations offer women free, confidential, 28
32	32	and compassionate services, including pregnancy tests, peer counseling, 24 -29
33	33	hour telephone hotlines, childbirth and parenting classes, referrals to 30
34	34	community health care, and other support services; and 31

36	36	WHEREAS, many pregnancy help organizations offer ult rasounds and other 33
37	37	medical services; and 34

46	46	WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations encourage women to make positive 3
47	47	life choices by equipping them with complete and accurate information 4
48	48	regarding their pregnancy options and the development of their unborn 5
49	49	children; and 6

51	51	WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations provide women with compassionate 8
52	52	and confidential peer counseling in a nonjudgmen tal manner regardless of 9
53	53	their pregnancy outcomes; and 10

55	55	WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations provide important support and 12
56	56	resources for women who choose childbirth over abortion; and 13

58	58	WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations ensure that women are receivin g 15
59	59	prenatal information and services that lead to the birth of healthy infants; 16

62	62	WHEREAS, many pregnancy help organizations provide grief assistance for 19
63	63	women and men who regret the loss of their children from past choices they 20
64	64	have made; and 21

66	66	WHEREAS, many pregnancy help organizations work to prevent unplanned 23
67	67	pregnancies by teaching effective abstinence education in public schools; and 24

69	69	WHEREAS, both federal and state governments are increasingly 26
70	70	recognizing the valuable services of pregnancy help o rganizations through the 27
71	71	designation of public funds for such organizations; and 28

73	73	WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations operate primarily through 30
74	74	reliance on the voluntary donations and time of individuals who are committed 31
75	75	to caring for the needs of wome n and promoting and protecting life, 32

77	77	NOW THEREFORE, 34
78	78	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY -FOURTH GENERAL 35
79	79	ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 36 HR1010

85	85	THAT the House of Representatives: 2
86	86	(1) Strongly support pregnancy help organizations in their 3
87	87	unique, positive contributions to the individual lives of women, men, and 4
88	88	babies, both born and unborn; 5
89	89	(2) Commend the compassionate work of tens of thousands of 6
90	90	volunteers and paid staff at pregnancy help organizations in Arkansas and 7
91	91	across the United States; 8
92	92	(3) Strongly encourage the United States Congress and 9
93	93	other federal and state government agencies to grant pregnancy help 10
94	94	organizations assistance for medical equipment and abstinence education in a 11
95	95	manner that does not compromise the mission or religious integrity of these 12
96	96	organizations; and 13
97	97	(4) Disapprove of the actions of any national, state, or local 14
98	98	groups attempting to prevent pregnancy help organizations from effectively 15
99	99	serving women and men facing unplanned pregnancies. 16

101	101	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon its adoption a copy of this resolution 18
102	102	be presented by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to each 19
103	103	pregnancy help organization in Arkansas, to the Governor, to the President of 20
104	104	the United States, and to the Vice President of the United States, and the 21
105	105	Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress. 22
