TO RECOGNIZE THE IMP ORTANCE OF PREGNANCY HELP 8 
ORGANIZATIONS IN ARK ANSAS. 9

TO RECOGNIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF PREGNANCY 13 
HELP ORGANIZATIONS IN ARKANSAS. 14 
 15 
 WHEREAS, the life-affirming impact of pregnancy help organizations on 16 
the women, men, children, and communities they serve is considerable and 17 
growing; and 18 
 19 
 WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations serve women in Arkansas and 20 
across the United States with integrity and compassion; and 21 
 22 
 WHEREAS, more than two thousand seven hundred (2,700) pregnancy help 23 
organizations across the United States provide comprehensive care to women 24 
and men facing unplanned pregnancies, including resources to meet their 25 
physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs; and 26 
 27 
 WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations offer women free, confidential, 28 
and compassionate services, including pregnancy tests, peer counseling, 24	-29 
hour telephone hotlines, childbirth and parenting classes, referrals to 30 
community health care, and other support services; and 31 
 32 
 WHEREAS, many pregnancy help organizations offer ult rasounds and other 33 
medical services; and 34 
 35 
 WHEREAS, many pregnancy help organizations provide information on 36     	HR1010

adoption and adoption referrals to pregnant women; and 1 
 2 
 WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations encourage women to make positive 3 
life choices by equipping them with complete and accurate information 4 
regarding their pregnancy options and the development of their unborn 5 
children; and 6 
 7 
 WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations provide women with compassionate 8 
and confidential peer counseling in a nonjudgmen tal manner regardless of 9 
their pregnancy outcomes; and 10 
 11 
 WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations provide important support and 12 
resources for women who choose childbirth over abortion; and 13 
 14 
 WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations ensure that women are receivin	g 15 
prenatal information and services that lead to the birth of healthy infants; 16 
and 17 
 18 
 WHEREAS, many pregnancy help organizations provide grief assistance for 19 
women and men who regret the loss of their children from past choices they 20 
have made; and 21 
 22 
 WHEREAS, many pregnancy help organizations work to prevent unplanned 23 
pregnancies by teaching effective abstinence education in public schools; and 24 
 25 
 WHEREAS, both federal and state governments are increasingly 26 
recognizing the valuable services of pregnancy help o rganizations through the 27 
designation of public funds for such organizations; and 28 
 29 
 WHEREAS, pregnancy help organizations operate primarily through 30 
reliance on the voluntary donations and time of individuals who are committed 31 
to caring for the needs of wome n and promoting and protecting life, 32 
 33 
NOW THEREFORE,  34 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY -FOURTH GENERAL 35 
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 36    	HR1010

 THAT the House of Representatives: 2 
 (1)  Strongly support pregnancy help organizations in their 3 
unique, positive contributions to the individual lives of women, men, and 4 
babies, both born and unborn; 5 
 (2)  Commend the compassionate work of tens of thousands of 6 
volunteers and paid staff at pregnancy help organizations in Arkansas and 7 
across the United States; 8 
 (3)  Strongly encourage the United States Congress and 9 
other federal and state government agencies to grant pregnancy help 10 
organizations assistance for medical equipment and abstinence education in a 11 
manner that does not compromise the mission or religious integrity of these 12 
organizations; and 13 
 (4)  Disapprove of the actions of any national, state, or local 14 
groups attempting to prevent pregnancy help organizations from effectively 15 
serving women and men facing unplanned pregnancies. 16 
 17 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon its adoption a copy of this resolution 18 
be presented by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to each 19 
pregnancy help organization in Arkansas, to the Governor, to the President of 20 
the United States, and to the Vice President of the United States, and the 21 
Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress. 22
