CONFERENCE OF THE CO UNCIL OF STATE GOVER NMENTS 9 
SOUTHERN OFFICE.  10

TO RECOGNIZE THE SEVENTY -SEVENTH SOUTHERN 14 
LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE OF THE COUNCIL OF 15 
STATE GOVERNMENTS SOUTHERN OFFICE. 16 
 17 
 WHEREAS, The Council of State Governments Southern Office (CSG South) 18 
is a nonpartisan, nonprofit member organization that serves the southern 19 
legislatures of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, 20 
Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, 21 
Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia; and 22 
 23 
 WHEREAS, with regionally based leadership and perspective, and 24 
national-level resources, CSG South provides southern legislators and 25 
government staff with a wide variety of prog rams and services that facilitate 26 
regional cooperation and encourage the exchange of information; and 27 
 28 
 WHEREAS, CSG South is governed by an Executive Committee made up of 29 
legislative leadership, and policy topics are overseen by six Standing Policy 30 
Committees which consist of legislators and government staff from the member 31 
states; and 32 
 33 
 WHEREAS, the mission of the organization is to serve as a community of 34 
the states, committed to connecting, informing, inspiring, and empowering 35 
public servants in all thr ee branches of state government to put the best 36     	HR1015

ideas and solutions into practice; and 1

 WHEREAS, in pursuit of this mission, CSG South has convened the 3 
Southern Legislative Conference (SLC) for the past seventy -six (76) years, 4 
beginning with its inception in Hot Springs, Arkansas and moving into decades 5 
of fellowship and cooperation between the fifteen (15) southern states; and 6 
 7 
 WHEREAS, the seventy-seventh Southern Legislative Conference will 8 
convene in Charleston, South Carolina, from July 8 to 12, 2023 ; and 9 
 10 
 WHEREAS, more than one thousand five hundred (1,500) southern 11 
legislators, government staff, and their families will gather to discuss 12 
policy matters specifically affecting southern states to bridge commonalities 13 
and discuss solutions for current p olicy trends, challenges, and 14 
opportunities; and 15 
 16 
 WHEREAS, CSG South offers a welcome to all southern legislative, 17 
executive, and judicial officials to attend, 18 
 19 
NOW THEREFORE,  20 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY -FOURTH GENERAL 21 
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 22 
 23 
 THAT the House of Representatives recognizes the seventy-seventh 24 
Southern Legislative Conference of the Council of State Governments Southern 25 
Office. 26 
 27 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolutio n be 28 
provided to Council of State Governments Southern Office Director Lindsay 29 
Gray by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives. 30
