2625 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 23

2827 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code § 6-60-214(a), concerning the eligibility 25
2928 requirements for tuition benefits for soldiers and airmen of the Arkansas 26
3029 National Guard, is amended to read as follows: 27
3130 (a) A soldier or airman of the Arkansas National Guard may attend a 28
3231 state-supported institution of higher education tuition -free if the soldier 29
3332 or airman: 30
3433 (1) Is an Arkansas resident or is eligible for in -state tuition 31
3534 under § 6-60-205; 32
3635 (2) Except as provided in subdivision (f)(3) of this section, 33
3736 has completed initial active duty training; 34
3837 (3) Except as provided in subsection (f) of this section, is in 35
3938 good standing as an active soldier or airman of the Arkansas National Guard; 36 HB1005

4241 (4) Has been accepted to and is enrolled in a state -supported 1
4342 institution of higher education as a student in good standing; 2
4443 (5) Completed and submitted to the United States Department of 3
4544 Education a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); 4
4645 (6) Submitted applications for: 5
4746 (A) Federal and state grants and scholarships for which 6
4847 the soldier or airman is eligible; and 7
4948 (B) Grants and scholarships awarded by the state -supported 8
5049 institution of higher education in which the soldier or airman is enrolled; 9
5150 (7) Is enrolled in a program of study leading to an 10
5251 undergraduate degree or a postsecondary credential or certificate ; and 11
5352 (8) Has not received a bachelor's degree. 12
