TO PROCLAIM FEBRUARY 26, 2025, AS HOMESCHOOL DAY AT 10

TO RECOGNIZE THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF 15 
HOMESCHOOLING AND TO PROCLAIM FEBRUARY 16 
26, 2025, AS HOMESCHOOL DAY AT THE STATE 17 
CAPITOL. 18

 WHEREAS, over thirty thousand (30,000) students were homeschooled in 20 
Arkansas during the 2023 -2024 school year; and 21 
 22 
 WHEREAS, homeschooling offers flexibility, efficiency, and 23 
effectiveness in teaching students in Arkansas, and this benefit allows 24 
homeschooling families to offer increased opportunities for community 25 
involvement and service to others for their children; and 26 
 27 
 WHEREAS, homeschooling is not a one -size-fits-all plan, and the 28 
education can be customized to the student's learning styles and preferences 29 
and can be beneficial to students with special needs; and 30 
 31 
 WHEREAS, homeschooling provides benefits in academics, mental health, 32 
physical health, and social development; and 33 
 34 
 WHEREAS, homeschooling encourages autonomy and independence and allows 35 
children to harness their own unique qualities and interests; and 36    	HR1046

 WHEREAS, homeschooling offers opportunities for students to learn 2 
entrepreneurship and often to begin working on their own small businesses; 3

 WHEREAS, homeschooling emphasizes family as a foundation for social 6 
development and development of faith; and 7 
 8 
 WHEREAS, homeschooling is accommodating to special situations and works 9 
well for military families, families who travel, and families contending with 10 
illness and challenging work schedules; and 11 
 12 
 WHEREAS, homeschooling parents are able to value an individual 13 
student's potential and focus on this individual potential instead of minimum 14 
standards and standardized testing, and these parents are allowed to shape 15 
homeschooling so that learning for the students can be reactive to new 16 
methods and new concepts regarding positive child development; and 17 
 18 
 WHEREAS, homeschooling provides for a focus on life skills that 19 
students can use as they progress into adulthood as homeschooling allows 20 
students to dedicate time to learning anything from cooking to budgeting, 21 
 22 
NOW THEREFORE,  23 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY -FIFTH GENERAL 24 
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 25

 THAT the House of Representatives recognize February 26, 2025, as 27 
Homeschool Day at the State Capitol. 28
