2121 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 19

2323 SECTION 1. DO NOT CODIFY. Legislative findings. 21
2424 The General Assembly finds that: 22
2525 (1) Senior citizens are impacted by the rising costs of daily 23
2626 living expenses, including without limitation rent, utilities, groceries, 24
2727 medical expenses, and home healthcare costs, as indicated by the Consumer 25
2828 Price Index for All Urban Consumers, which has increased significantly over 26
2929 the years; and 27
3030 (2) Many senior citizens are on a fixed income, which is usually 28
3131 less than one thousand six hundred dollars ($1,600) per month. 29

3333 SECTION 2. Arkansas Code Title 26, Chapter 51, Subchapter 3, is 31
3434 amended to add an additional section to read as follows: 32
3535 26-51-317. Certain individuals based on age and income. 33
3636 There is allowed an exemption from the income tax imposed by this 34
3737 chapter for a person who: 35
3838 (1) Is at least sixty -five (65) years of age; and 36 SB318

4444 SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. Section 2 of this act is effective for tax 4
