AN ACT TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING THE LICENSURE OF 9 
ELECTRICAL INSPECTORS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 10

TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING THE 14 
LICENSURE OF ELECTRICAL INSPECTORS. 15

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 17 
 18 
 SECTION 1.  Arkansas Code § 17 -55-101(b), concerning applications for 19 
licensure as an electrical inspector, is amended to read as follows: 20 
      (b)(1)  A person shall apply for licensure as an electrical inspector 21 
on a form approved by the board within thirty (30) days of employment as an 22 
electrical inspector. 23 
 (2)  A person shall be eligible to apply for licensure as an 24 
electrical inspector if he or she is a: 25 
 (A)  Master electrician; 26 
 (B)  Journeyman electrician;  27 
 (C)  International Code Council Electrical Inspector with 28 
six (6) months of employment experience at a municipal building code 29 
enforcement office; 30 
 (D)  Arkansas Fire Training Academy International Fire 31 
Service Accreditation Congress Inspector 1 with two (2) years of employment 32 
experience at a fire marshal's office or fire inspector's office; 33 
 (E)  Arkansas Fire Training Academy International Fire 34 
Service Accreditation Congress Inspector 2 with one (1) year of employment 35 
experience at a fire marshal's office or fire inspector's office; or  36    	SB445

 (F)  Arkansas Fire Training Academy International Fire 1 
Service Accreditation Congress Inspector 3 with six (6) months of employment 2 
experience at a fire marshal's office or fire inspector's office. 3 
           (2)(3) Applications shall be made to the board and shall contain: 4 
 (A)  Proof of employment with the state or a political 5 
subdivision of the state as an electrical inspector in the State of Arkansas; 6 
 (B)(i)  Verification of work experience as required by rule 7 
of the board. 8 
 (ii)  Work experience shall include without 9 
limitation demonstrated knowledge of: 10 
 (a)  The standard materials and methods used in 11 
the installation of electric equipment; 12 
 (b)  Approved methods of construction to ensure 13 
the safety of persons and property; and 14 
 (c)  The requirements of the statewide 15 
standards for the construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical 16 
facilities and the performance of electrical work under § 20 -31-104; and 17 
 (A)  Proof of:  18 
 (i)  Licensure as an electrician required under 19 
subdivisions (b)(2)(A) and (B) of this section; or 20 
 (ii)  Certification and experience required under 21 
subdivisions (b)(2)(C) -(F) of this section; and 22 
 (C)(B) Payment of a license fee as established by rule of 23 
the board that shall not exceed fifty dollars ($50.00). 24
