1-Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 120 CHAPTER 39 Relative to the CHP Officer Andrew J. Camilleri Memorial Interchange. [ Filed with Secretary of State September 14, 2020. ] LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGESTACR 120, Quirk. The CHP Officer Andrew J. Camilleri Memorial Interchange.This measure would designate the interchange at Interstate 880 and State Route 92 in the County of Alameda as the CHP Officer Andrew J. Camilleri Memorial Interchange. The measure would request the Department of Transportation to determine the cost for appropriate signs, which shall include the star of the California Highway Patrol, showing this special designation and, upon receiving donations from nonstate sources covering that cost, to erect those signs.Digest Key Fiscal Committee: YES Bill TextWHEREAS, Andrew Joseph Camilleri, Sr. was born on February 20, 1984, to Michael and Sharon in San Jose, California, and was the brother of Matthew and Ashley; and WHEREAS, Officer Camilleri graduated from Merrill F. West High School in Tracy, California, in 2002, and worked for Clark Pest Control for 13 years after graduation; and WHEREAS, Officer Camilleri married his best friend, Rosanna Lopez, on February 28, 2004, and had three wonderful children: Elizabeth, born June 21, 2005, Andrew Jr., born April 22, 2011, and Ryder, born September 27, 2015; andWHEREAS, Officer Camilleri, badge number 21653, graduated from the California Highway Patrol Academy in 2017 and was assigned to patrol the Hayward area upon graduation, where he proudly served for 16 months before making the ultimate sacrifice; and WHEREAS, California Highway Patrol Officer Camilleri was killed in the line of duty on December 24, 2017, when an errant driver traveling southbound on Interstate 880 collided with his patrol vehicle; andWHEREAS, Officer Camilleri was transported to St. Rose Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries; andWHEREAS, Officer Camilleri is survived by his loving wife, children, parents, and siblings; and WHEREAS, Officer Camilleri was a hardworking, dedicated officer who loved his job and enjoyed the people he worked with. He was known for being a loyal family man and a wonderful father and husband. His greatest joys in life were his wife and children; andWHEREAS, Officer Camilleri enjoyed playing the bass in his spare time, cars, power rangers, and spending time with his family; andWHEREAS, In recognition of Officer Camilleris great contributions and sacrifice in serving the California Highway Patrol and the citizens of California, it would be fitting to designate an interchange in the County of Alameda in his honor; now, therefore, be itResolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the Legislature hereby designates the interchange at Interstate 880 and State Route 92 in the County of Alameda as the CHP Officer Andrew J. Camilleri Memorial Interchange; and be it further Resolved, That the Department of Transportation is requested to determine the costs of erecting the appropriate signs, which shall include the star of the California Highway Patrol, consistent with the signing requirements for the state highway system, showing these special designations, and upon receiving donations from nonstate sources covering the cost, to erect those signs; and be it furtherResolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
